Airbags are helpful tools that make it easier to keep track of your things. However, they must be set up and viewable on Apple’s Find My app before they can be used. Some users have said that they can’t find them on the feature after the most delinquent update to iOS 15. Airtags might not be showing up because of a bug in iOS. If the app is missing your Airtags, keep reading. To rectify the problem, this piece will examine several different methods.

What to Do if Airtags Are Missing From Find My

Airbags are great, but you can’t use them if Find My can’t find them. However, you can do a few things to solve this problem, which is good news. Check out these tips on how to fix your Airtag.

    Restart Your Device

Restart your Apple device to ensure you have the most recent version of iOS. After restarting their iPhones, many Airtag users conveyed that their tags reappeared on the Find My app. This could solve the issue if your Air tags go missing.

    Update Your Device

If your Airtags need to be added to your Find My app, you might need to update your phone or computer. These steps walk you through finding and installing new iOS updates.

    1.  Head to “General” by opening “Settings.”

    2.  Check for an update by clicking “Software Update.”
    3.  Get the new version of the iOS and run it.

The Air tags should be viewable in the Find My app now that your device has been updated.

    Check Other Devices

If you have other appliances listed on your Find My app, you can check to see if they are still visible by selecting them. Then, try accessing the app from a different Apple device. If our Airtags still need to be added to the list, the problem is with the tags. The issue with the device you previously used to find your tags is if they are now visible. You can change some settings to rectify the problem in this last case. Here’s what you need to do.

    1.  Go to “Settings” and then “General” on your Apple device.

    1.  Open “Settings” and then head to “General.”
    2. Go to “Reset” and tap “Reset Network Settings.”

    Change the Battery

The need to replace the battery could be one of the reasons your Airtag needs to be added to the app. But first, you can use the steps here to check the battery.

    1. Open Find My and click the “Items” section.

If that is the issue, you can replace Airtag’s battery using the following method.

    1.  Rotate the battery cover backward while holding down the Airtag.
    2. Take off the cap, which will reveal the battery.

    Reset Your Airtag

If your Airtag is skipping from the Find My app, you can fix things by manually resetting it. How to perform a reset is described here.

    1. Hold down the Airtag battery cover and rotate it counterclockwise.
    2. Remove the battery and place it back in, pressing it down until you hear a sound.
    3. Repeat the process of removing and replacing the battery another four times.
    4. Put the cover back on, ensuring that the three tabs on the cover line up with those on the Airtag.
    5. Rotate the cover clockwise.

Your Airtag should now be reset.

With the Airtag reset, you will now have to set up the device. These steps will show you how to do that.

    3. Hit “Finish” to complete the process.

Your Airtag has now been reset and should be visible on your Find My app.

    Check Your iCloud Account

If you are looking for your Airtags on the wrong iCloud account, they might need to appear on the Find My app. By using the method described below, double-check that you are in the account connected to the Air tags.

    1. To open the Apple ID and iCloud section, open “Settings,” then click on your name.
    2. Check the email address on the iCloud account and make sure the Airtags are connected to the right account.

    Check Your Location Settings

Because your iPhone or iPad’s location services are turned off, the Air tags might be missing from the Find My app. Here’s how to check the settings for where you are.

    1. Head to “Settings” on your Apple device and tap “Privacy.”
      Missing Airtags
    2. Select “Location Services” and click on “Find My.”
    3. Press the “While Using the App” option.

Location services are now turned on, and your Airtags should be visible.

    Enable Two-Factor Authentication

Airtags requires the two-factor authentication feature to be enabled in order to connect to your Apple device. The following steps will show you how to turn on two-factor authentication.

    1. Go to “Settings” and tap on your name.
      Missing Airtags
    2. Press “Password & Security” and check that two-factor authentication has been turned on.
    3. Input your phone number and answer the security questions provided.
      Missing Airtags

Once you complete the process, two-factor authentication will be enabled on your phone.

Ensure You Aren’t Using a Managed Apple ID

Airtags can’t be set up on an Apple ID managed by Apple. Schools and other groups often use managed accounts to keep in touch with their communities. If your Airtags are related to a managed account, you must unlink them and set them up on a different Apple ID. After that, you should be able to view them on Find My.

Downgrade From iOS 15 to iOS 14

You could downgrade from iOS 15 to iOS 14, which might seem drastic. Yet, there appears to be a bug in iOS 15 that keeps removing Airtags from the “Find My” app. Although Apple doesn’t give these downloads, products like FixGo can help you perform this task without losing your data. You must download the software to your device and follow the on-screen directions.

    Back to Normal

Issues with the network often cause Airtag problems, so if you can fix those, your problem should go away. But there could be other reasons why your Airtags aren’t showing up on the Find My app. This piece talks about the different things that could have caused the problem and how to fix them. Then, with some help, you should get your Airtags to work as they should.

From the Find My app, have your Air tags gone missing? How did you get them to be viewable again? Tell us in the comments section below.
